Who runs it

Instapdown is operated by Ömer Faruk Kolip, an independent developerbased in Turkey. Same operator behind XTapDown (X / Twitter toolkit) and TikTapDown (TikTok toolkit). The three sites share design language, content standards, and one philosophy: useful single-purpose tools that don't demand an account.

Why we build it

Creator tools shouldn't need a $19/month subscription to do small jobs well. Saving your own Reel before a profile cleanup, grabbing the audio from a viral sound for swipe-file research, copying a curated hashtag set for a specific niche — these are two-minute tasks that became gated content as the creator-economy SaaS sector matured.

The TapDown thesis is that a per-platform utility, well-built, with zero account friction and zero upsell pressure, has long-term value to creators even in a market dominated by all-in-one platforms. Free for the user, monetized through unobtrusive display ads. No data harvesting, no email-wall, no “upgrade to unlock”.

How we built it

Three architectural decisions define how the downloader side of the site behaves, and they're worth being explicit about:

• Proxy-only. Instapdown is a URL transformer, not a content host. When you paste a Reel URL, our server resolves it to the corresponding scontent.cdninstagram.com MP4 URL and returns that URL to your browser. The browser downloads the bytes directly from Instagram. We never store, re-encode, or strip metadata from the file.
• Public-only.Every downloader only accepts URLs from public Instagram profiles. Private accounts, login-walled content, and paid-subscription posts return a graceful error — never an auth-bypass path. We will not ship a feature that bypasses Instagram's access controls.
• Stateless. No user accounts, no analytics tied to identity, no paste history. Consent-gated GA4 measures aggregate page behavior; nothing tied to what URL you pasted.

On the creator-tools side (hashtag library, fonts, engagement calculator, best-time-to-post, hook library) there's no scraping at all — everything runs client-side from curated data files that we maintain by hand and refresh quarterly.

Creator rights

If you are a creator and want a specific public Reel, post, Story or profile picture taken out of Instapdown's cache, our DMCA process honors that within 24 hours of receiving notice. We do not ask for justification; we do not require a lawyer; we do not delay. The creator's right to their own content trumps our caching convenience.

Repeat-infringer accounts (someone systematically misusing the tool to download another creator's catalog) get IP-blocked from the API. We don't need to wait for a court order on that.

Instapdown is an independent third-party utility. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Meta Platforms, Inc. or Instagram. “Instagram” and “Reels” are trademarks of Meta Platforms, Inc., used here only to describe the platform our tools work with. The closest Instagram-owned tool with similar functionality is the official Instagram app's “Save” feature, which only works for your own posts.
